Columbus Regional Health has announced an agreement with Cigna Healthcare, ensuring that the hospital and its associated physicians remain in-network for Cigna’s commercial medical plans. The announcement comes after Cigna agreed to terms deemed fair by Columbus Regional Health earlier this week.
Both parties have confirmed that no covered Cigna patient will be affected by the previously issued notice of contract termination. Initially, Columbus Regional Health was set to move to out-of-network status with Cigna Healthcare by late June. However, continued negotiations led to an extension of their contract, maintaining coverage without disruption.
The discussions highlight the efforts hospitals and healthcare organizations must undertake to advocate for both their operations and the patients they serve. Ensuring multiple plans remain in-network is a key focus for these entities.
Despite the successful negotiation, challenges persist in securing fair terms with commercial health insurance providers. Issues such as insurance delays, denials, and administrative burdens contribute to increased costs for collecting payments for services rendered.
Columbus Regional Health expressed gratitude towards patients and employers for their ongoing support as they work to provide quality care and diverse insurance coverage options.
