RCC Now Accepting Applications for Upcoming Blet Academies
0Comments

Now is the time to start planning for the upcoming fall semester, especially for those who are interested in attending the Basic Law Enforcement Training program.

To meet the growing demand and need for law enforcement officers, RCC will offer two Basic Law Enforcement Academies this fall – one during the day and the other at night.

The day BLET academy will begin Monday, August 15. Students interested in signing up for the daytime program will need to have an application packet submitted no later than 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28. A mandatory orientation will be held on Monday, August 1 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The night BLET academy will begin on Monday, October 17. Applications for this session will due by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6. A mandatory orientation will be held on Monday, October 3 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The program currently boasts a 100% hiring rate for those actively seeking employment, as a shortage of law enforcement officers continues across the region, state, and nation.

The only costs associated with the program are for books and a uniform, for which financial aid or scholarships may be available. The tuition for BLET is covered at 100% by the State of North Carolina for all students accepted into the program with a required sponsorship established.

In addition, cadets who complete the BLET program can receive credit for 4 classes which can be used to pursue an associate’s degree in criminal justice. Those classes are CJC 131 Criminal Law, CJC 132 Court Procedure & Evidence, CJC 221 Investigative Principles, and CJC 231 Constitutional Law.

Application packets can be obtained at the Sammy Cox Law Enforcement Center.
