Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas will provide additional measures to support customers that are still reeling from financial hardships COVID-19 created.
“The financial impacts from this pandemic are far from over,” Barbara Higgins, Duke Energy's senior vice president and chief customer officer, said in a company news release on June 17. “We will be following the states’ lead for when we resume options, and while the timelines may be different, our commitment to customers and the solutions-focused care we offer will be abundant and consistent.”
The energy companies said in a news release on June 17 that they would continue the financial assistance programs to customers dealing in need. The two will also waive walk-in and card fees for two months and help customers finds ways to lower the energy bills.
“We encourage customers who are, understandably, behind in their payments, to take advantage of these resources now and to continue paying what they can to avoid large bill balances that may be difficult to manage later,” Higgins said in the news release.
