Sen. Danny Britt, Jr. (R-Columbus) is being supported by the North Carolina Association of Educators to keep his Senate seat in District 13.

“After serving in the North Carolina Senate for two legislative sessions, it is clear I have a track record as an advocate for public educators and public education,” Britt told The Robesonian for its report in June. “I am extremely humbled by this endorsement. I will continue to roll up my sleeves and fight for public educators like my aunts, sister and wife... I am not sure the number in 2020, but in 2018 the NCAE endorsed only one republican out of 170 legislative members which makes this endorsement even more monumental.”

Association of Educators President Mark Jewell said Britt has earned their support by doing what is right for schools and students.

“He knows that public education is the great equalizer and has proven that he will fight to ensure every child succeeds in the classrooms of North Carolina,” Jewell told The Robesonian.

Britt is seeking a third term in the state Senate.

He is a part of the Appropriations on Justice and Public Safety, the Appropriations/Base Budget, Judiciary, the Pensions and Retirement and Aging, the Redistricting and Elections, the Select Committee on Prison Safety and the Transportation committees. He will be facing Democrat Barbara Yater-Lockmay in the general election.
