The U.S. Department of Agriculture is investing in Red Springs with a grant to go toward water infrastructure, Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) said.
“Clean water is a universal necessity and accessibility should not be obstructed because of location," Bishop said in a Aug. 10 news release. "I applaud the Trump Administration for working to modernize clean water accessibility and wastewater infrastructure for rural communities."
The department is investing $1.7 million in Red Springs in Robeson County. Red Springs will use the funds to construct a water treatment plant, which will help improve storage tanks sites, replace water lines that have deteriorated over time and improve water supply wells.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has been investing in modernizing drinking water, according to the press release. The department has invested $462 million in rural communities for their drinking water. Rural communities are receiving funding through the Water & Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program, which is expected to impact 167,000 communities in the nation.
