Classes in the new Agribusiness Technology course at Bladen Community College in Dublin started on Sept. 16, for the 12-week fall session.
The new Agribusiness Technology course aims to develop “a workforce knowledgeable in sustainable agriculture practices,” the college’s website said. Course work may include instruction in agricultural specialization, accounting, business management, marketing and more.
“Students will learn the fundamentals of agriculture, focusing on crop production and business. Emphasis is placed on entrepreneurial and field training,” the college’s website said. “Students will also learn the basic principles of our economic system and government policies and programs relating to agriculture.”
Lynn Marshburn, a North Carolina State University graduate who previously was a livestock agent for North Carolina Cooperative Extension/Sampson County Center, will teach the course, the Bladen Journal reported in September. Marshburn was Teacher of the Year in 2018-2019 for Duplin County Schools.
