City of Whiteville recently issued the following announcement.
For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in restrictions on large gatherings of people, Tuesday’s 6:30 p.m. Whiteville City Council meeting will be open to a limited number of members of the general public.
City Attorney Carlton Williamson and City Manager Darren Currie said that plans are to allow up to 25 people, including city staff, in council chambers for the meeting. Admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis. “There can only be 25 in there, so if we put the number of chairs equal to 25, including us, once they fill up, there will be no one else admitted,” Currie said. “We’ll try to space everything out and social distance and get everybody in there that we can.”
Since beginning attendance restrictions in March due to COVID-19, the city has been live-streaming video/audio of meetings, and that will continue. The meetings can be accessed through the Whiteville city website at whitevillenc.gov.
