Emerging Technology Institute in Red Springs recently hosted a competition to test training technology produced by a Texas-based firearms simulation company.
The competition featured individuals from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Special Operations Response Team members and local law enforcement and the Army.
Law enforcement officers with Pembroke, Lumberton and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke police departments were among those who assisted in testing Laser Shot Simulations firearms training simulators at Emerging Technology Institute in Red Springs, The Robesonian reported on Sept. 22.
The simulators intended to provide realistic training that can replace live-fire training, with the potential to reduce both the risk of such activity and the cost, while still giving personnel with relevant experience, The Robesonian reported.
The simulation systems run from $22,000 to $30,000, with the price difference based mostly in the distance trainers — who are included in the price — have to travel, The Robesonian reported.
