Bladen Community College issued the following announcement on Aug. 26.

Bladen Community College will observe the 20th anniversary of 9/11 by inviting the public to participate in a special, commemorative walk thorough out its campus.

The two-mile walking path, a reflective and informative one that will include significant facts displays about 9/11, begins at the flagpole in front of the Page Student Resources Center, winds throughout the campus and concludes at the same point. Twenty years ago, first responders climbed 110 flights of stairs to rescue victims.  The college invites the public to join in honoring the commitment and sacrifice of these heros by walking the guided path.

The path at the college will open to the public on Sept. 8 and remain open through Sept. 15.

Dr. Amanda Lee, BCC President, remarked ” It is our hope that the path will allow for quiet reflection and will include information to educate about the events of that day. The path is our way to honor those who gave so much for our country twenty years ago on that unforgettable day.”
