St Andrews University issued the following announcement on Sept. 11.
20 Years. 3000+ lives lost.
May we also never forget the valiant efforts of those 40 passengers and crew members on Flight 93 who gave their last moments of life fighting for control of the plane before crashing into that Pennsylvania field. The heroic actions of those 40 passengers and crew members ultimately prevented an attack aimed at the US Capitol.
We encourage you to take time to remember and reflect what occurred on this day, 20 years ago. Talk to your parents, older siblings, professors, first responders and listen to their stories and how each remember the specific place when they discovered the horror of what had occurred. Read news articles from late 2001. Watch and pay attention to documentaries that discuss why there will forever be a certain stillness and quietness during the morning of the 11th day of September.
Although this 9/11 may feel different, 20 years later and after the raw feelings of what has recently happened overseas, we will never forget.
