Bladen County Public Library issued the following announcement on Oct. 7.
In honor of National Fire Prevention Week, our Storytime hosted some extra special guests! We had 16 bright-eyed, excited children who enjoyed a story read by Assistant Fire Chief Hollis Freeman, of the Elizabethtown Fire Department. Afterward, Captain Cameron Kinlaw and Driver/Operator Samuel Hodge took time showing all the children the parts and accessories of the firetruck and its many tools. They even let the children climb in the firetruck and blow the siren! It was a fun, educational time! Our children learned that firefighters are here to help and protect us. Thank you so much Elizabethtown Fire Department for this wonderful outreach! You guys are the best!
