Southeastern Community College issued the following annoucement on Oct. 21.
New students can register in Student Services and current students can register with their faculty advisor and work with Financial Aid to complete a FAFSA in order to receive FREE college tuition. SCC FREE college will be a “last dollar” program, meaning the college will exhaust all other existing funding first.
The money is available through federal, state, and generous donor support. This assistance is meant to help students recover from the pandemic and get back to college.
“We are committed to finding ways to help our students succeed,” says Dr. Chris English, President. “We hope that offering free tuition for the Spring 2022 semester will allow our current students flexibility when they return from the holiday break, including new students enrolling at SCC. We don’t want financial barriers to stop students from gaining the skills they need for a great job as we work to strengthen our workforce.”
Whether students are beginning college or continuing their education, including adults with some college; adults with no college; recent high school graduates; SCC has options that will meet student needs.
The Financial Aid Office staff will work closely with students to help them apply for the funds that are best suited for their financial situation. Students should complete a FAFSA or equivalent application to have their financial needs evaluated in order to determine all of the financial resources that they may qualify for.
