Robeson Community College issued the following announcement on Feb. 21.

The nursing students at Robeson Community College have a message that they want everyone to hear: Your heart is one-in-a-million.

February is American Heart Month, a time when all people can focus on their cardiovascular health. RCC’s Nursing students are joining the CDC Million Hearts® initiative and health organizations across the nation in spotlighting the importance of maintaining your heart health, especially during the pandemic.

With COVID-19, cardiovascular health remains a top public health priority—with heart disease and stroke continuing to be the first and fifth leading causes of death in the United States.

Throughout the month, nursing students are learning about the importance of cardiovascular health, and they have been distributing paper hearts throughout the campus community to help raise awareness of the importance of taking small steps to maintain a healthy heart.

For anyone interested in learning more about taking heart healthy steps, they can visit this website for resources: https://www.hearthealthysteps.org.
