Shop Students Collect Coats for Warmth Drive | Robeson Community College
Students at Robeson Community College have been working to help make the holidays brighter, and warmer, for those less fortunate.
Students Helping Other People, or SHOP, held a Coats for Warmth Drive during the month of December.
“We had four collection boxes on campus,” stated Susan Moore, staff advisor for SHOP at RCC. “SHOP collected enough items to fill 16 boxes full of coats, scarves, gloves, socks and other garments to help keep people warm this winter.”
The items collected were donated to the Christian Care Center of Lumberton, which will distribute the products to people of all ages.
“Christian Care Center serves those less fortunate and operates a soup kitchen and overnight shelter for men, women, and families.
Many of the coats that would fit children ages 11 to 13 were donated to the Boys and Girls Center of Lumberton.
Students that participated in collecting coats included Jabon Johnson, SHOP President; Jadyn Hardin; Vicente Lopez; Dahaira Lugo; Decarius McKeithan; Jordan McKinnon; Adriana Sifontes; and Ismael Virgile.
“We would like to thank all of our generous donors,” stated. “Thank you for helping others stay warm this winter season…Merry Christmas from SHOP!”
