Meet Steven Taylor | Prei08sTar

"I came to PSRC in 2016 as an Art Teacher for Fairmont High School. Mr. Prater gave me the job and I was there for a total of six years.  During that time I was able to build the Art program up and had so many amazing students.  We painted murals in the hallway and in the room that still represent our department today. I was even lucky enough to win Teacher of the Year in 2018-19.  I loved the high school setting and had great fun helping seniors on their transition to higher education. I taught beginning all the way up to AP Art during that time. I also started a Chess Club and Video Game Club at the school while continuing their Art Club.  We also had a chapter of the National Arts Honor Society where students received cords and recognition at graduation for their contributions to art at their school. I was able to work with our Arts Supervisor during that time and was the High School Art Chairperson."

Taylor took on the Arts Supervisor role following the retirement of Sandi Carter in July.

 Taylor's Goals

"Now moving forward as the curriculum and instruction supervisor for the Arts I hope to continue improving our programs at all of the schools in PSRC.  It is my hope that we continue to incorporate the Arts to strengthen our core subjects and facilitate greater learning at every school. "

When Taylor is not working, he can be found enjoying hobbies such as photography.

"I enjoy art including photography, cinematography, and digital designs. I also love video games and comic culture.  I love spending time with my family. I have a wonderful wife and a nine-year-old son.  We also attend church regularly and are strong in our faith. I am truly blessed to be in this position in PSRC."
