FOIA Request to Columbus County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South North Carolina News have submitted a request for public records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1.
The request specifically seeks a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. The information requested includes the candidates' first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation.
Additionally, we have asked for all contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. In line with this commitment, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
