With the closing of multiple locations and curfews happening across the country, and experts predicting that the negative effects of the COVID-19 epidemic could last longer than expected, more places are seeing their doors closed every day to help stop the COVID-19 spread.
Maxton is one of the cities that has started seeing more closures as time goes by, recently stopping access to Beacham Park until further notice to reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure in public areas, according to an April 6 report in The Robesonian. Beacham Park will be monitored by the Maxton Police Department to ensure the safety of residents, according to Town Manager Roosevelt Henegan, the publication reported.
Although the park itself will be closed, Beacham Park’s walking track shall remain open, the media outlet reported. However, those who decide to visit the walking track are highly encouraged to comply with social distancing mandates, which state people must remain at least six feet apart from other people visiting the track.
